What I know for sure …

I guest wrote this as a piece for during August 2017 for women’s month.  https://puddingfaceweb.wordpress.com/2017/08/16/five-fab-ladies-featured-for-womens-month/ I met Thozama as a colleague at PPS in 2015. She was a ray of sunshine in the office and the only way to describe was her: “she owned it”. Everything about her was gorgeous and a fashionista of note.  A colleague relationship that turned into a friendship and for this I am grateful.  We have shared many wonderful memories, lunches, party notes, fashion tips and fitness tips. Yes I learnt about ruby woo from Thozi’s! I often get asked: How do you do it – the working mom / life balance? Every single day…

Mobile apps vs Responsive web design

The debate of responsive web site vs mobile app has come up repeatedly on some of the projects I am working on. From a project management  experience, these are a few summary items to consider as input into the technical design workshops : Costs: These can vary drastically and in my experience, mobile app development works out far more expensive User experience: Provide the best experience for your user / customer. GirlCodeZa -Workshop 3 : How to build a wordpress site

I stumbled across girlcodeza on Twitter and it caught my interest. Girlcodeza is a Non-profit organization and their primary purpose is to create a network of women who are highly skilled in computer literacy, coding and design, and who can leverage those skills to develop innovative and sustainable solutions within their communities. I had missed the previous 2 workshops and attended workshop 3 hosted at MTN ( thank you for the lovely catering) .  It started with an introduction to Project Management ( everything which I could so identify with being a specialist in this field ) by Elisja van Niekerk, a project manager at MTN. Key take-away from this session…

Why you need Coaching & Mentoring @ the workplace

What does this really mean ? The key difference between coaching and mentoring is that coaching is a formal , short-term, task based relationship and mentoring is a long-term more informal kind of relationship. It is important to have these relationships throughout your career. You will need them for career building, leadership growth, skill growth, as you step up the corporate ladder. I have been fortunate to have acquired these skills formally and have also mentored a number of graduates. The best advice I can give you : It is important to build your network inside your organization, as well as outside.

    Why I quit Facebook

A few weeks ago, a post appeared on my FB timeline from a friend about being productive without the app. So I decided to put this theory to the to the test and see whether it was true. With information coming at you in every direction ALL the time, I was start to feel a bit bombarded and overwhelmed and decided some spring cleaning was in order. I used all my free time to ‘catch up’ and was constantly checking what was happening and when the notifications appeared , an OCD part of me needed to get rid of it and who’s birthday I have missed. Idleness was uncomfortable. It…
